Being Followed!

Comic: Little Johnny's efforts to use his imagination are squelched by Jonathan
You'll notice that Jonathan's shirt is black.  My editor used to be in the habit of filling in the shirt because of the distracting design I used on it.  It was a sort of simplified tiger-stripe pattern that seemed like a lousy attempt at abstracting the folds in his clothes.  I did it this time.  I think I messed up the inking and filled it in on the computer.

Trouble with Homophones

Comic: Ramsey and Ewenice have a dire misunderstanding concerning the use of 'you' and 'ewe'
Even more funs with puns.
Well...enough said.

Japanese as a romantic language

Comic: a pathetic attempt to incorporate manga influence into my comic
As an anime fan, the first word I learned to recognize was "nani," which indicates the interjection: "What?!"
Other phrases we pick up fast are:
Bakana - "Impossible!"
Hai - "Yes sir!" or "Okay!" or "Affirmative!"
My best guess for the translation for "nani-yo" (yes, I admit I guessed) was "What are you doing?" or "How's it going?"  I could be wrong.

Welcome to the Troupe, part II

Kate quickly switches the target of her insults and from Jonathan's efforts directly to Jonathan himself
This is the second part of the "Welcome to the Troupe" set.  Kate can be cruel when she wants to be.

Welcome to the Troupe, part I

Comic: Kate insults the efforts of Jonathan to court her with the assistance of Doctor Spot and Little Johnny
First published in the Eastern Echo on 18 Mar 2009
Jonathan has admired Kate Anthrope for a long time.
I don't recall at this moment if he's ever revealed that to her in the Echo prints.  He has at least once, when Beowulf Hoffman learned of it and tried to hold it over his head.  He was rejected outright, and things went on as they had.
This is likely to be a similar story.

Invoice

Comic: Jonathan begins to worry about the boarding arrangements following the wedding to come until Doctor Spot and Little Johnny come up with a solution
I think this is the second comic that features Dr. Spot in her engagement collar.  You can expect to see her in the original tie in following comic strips, but I'm planning to put her back in the engagement collar soon.  Hopefully, she'll be wearing it permanently.

Luther's Resolve: Fail!

Comic: Luther fails Little Johnny when Doctor Milkcowski threatens him with pain
I don't like the way the third panel turned out.  I like the joke, but the rest of it was rushed.  I'll have to find a standard individual look for Luther.  He doesn't look like himself, yet, if you understand what I'm trying to say.
I don't blame you if you don't.  My manner of self-expression can be confusing.

Little Johnny's and Dr. Spot's Marriage Liscense

Comic: Little Johnny and Doctor Spot show Luther their Marriage Liscense
Somehow, the art in this one doesn't satisfy me, much like the next one in the series.  I think I would have liked a slightly more spectacular introduction for Luther.  You may notice that his collar is similar to the reverse collar worn my the clergy of several Christian denominations.  I thought, since Martin Luther was a German priest, a shepherd figure named after him wouldn't be too much amiss.

Proposal!

Finally, Doctor Spot and Little Johnny are engaged to be married

I don't know...I kind of thought they had to get engaged sometime!

Super-Ego: Fail! (this one is supposed to come before "Super-Ego: Win!")

Comic: Little Johnny fails his superego as he hides from Doctor Spot the nature of his attraction to her
Not much to say about this one. I thought of Little Johnny and Dr. Spot on a date, flirting. From there, the rest of the story arc took off...

Super-Ego: Win! (this one is supposed to come after "Super-Ego: Fail!")

Comic: Little Johnny's superego triumphs over his id as he tells Doctor Spot the truth
Smile & Wag!, season 2 actually inlcudes a guest comic made from the first frame of this one, copied twice to make a three-frame comic. I didn't like how the guest comic, drawn by colleague Zac Smith (nice guy, by the way) affected (or could have affected) the storyline. So it won't be published on this blog. I may post a link, but don't be so surprised if I just send you his email... of course, you could always click the link below and type "zac smith smile wag" in the search quary.

Loneley People

Comic: Doctor Milkcowski sings a loud song while Doctor Spot tries to quiet her
First published in the Eastern Echo on 20 Feb 2009.

I'm not quite sure how I came up with this one.
I had trouble coming up with Spot's line in the second panel.
Milkcowski's line was a ready-made music reference, as most of you, perhaps even all ten of you, are aware.  I know Jake is!

Syndicate Submission

Just wanted to notify my readers that I've turned in a syndicate submission to United Media.  I'm very excited.  I just hope they let me keep my blog if I'm accepted.
